Tahiti

Postmarked Papeete, dated 28 September 2009.

What an excitement it was when this arrived yesterday, all the way from French Polynesia in the southern Pacific, through Postcrossing.  One of my most exotic cards, I believe.  The stamp on the card is of Jaques Brel.  I wondered why - he's Belgian - until I read that he lived in French Polynesia near the end of his life.  Probably the most famous person to live there would be Paul Gaugin, the impressionist painter.  Oh, and Charles Darwin visited, how did I forget him?

Welcome to my postcard collection! I love hearing what you think of the cards - but spam WILL be deleted.
