Hum. That's its name, not an expression of disbelief. This tiny town, with a population that is sometimes quoted as 17 and at other times 23, is in the north west of Croatia. It is enclosed by town walls so I assume that's why it's considered a town rather than a village. In fact for such a tiny place (only two roads) it packs in some interesting features:
- The local church has wall writings in Glagolitic script, an early form of the Croatian language.
- Also in the church there are medieval frescos.
- A local speciality is a type of brandy made to a secret recipe which includes mistletoe.
Not a good idea to fall out with the neighbours then
ReplyDeleteNo, there's be no easy way of keeping any secrets either. :)
ReplyDeleteI liked that card. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteBrandy, Religion and Art in an intimate setting. Those flies on the town walls could probably tell a story or two... ;) Thanks for the glimpse, as always.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an adorable town that I would like to visit.

Gee, I wonder if they would resent the addition of just one more person (well, two if I can get whatsisname to join me.) It looks charming and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOnly 2 roads? You can see the whole town in 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming picture you posted. Would love to walk down that street.
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought mistletoe was poisonous! Maybe my mother just had to tell me that to prevent me putting it in my mouth. :)
ReplyDeleteMore and more I try to concoct ways in which I could convince Stephen to go on holiday to the Balkan countries next summer. He's not buying it though. :(
The architecture of the buildings looks very appealing.Love the stonework. But is the police officer, mailman, and mayor all the same person?
