Russia painted in flowers
It may not be immediately obvious to you, but this is a map of Russia. It is painted in the Khokhloma style.
Khokhloma painting is a traditional Russian folk art dating back to the 17th century. Wooden utensils such as bowls, ladles, dishes, are first carved in wood, then a layer of clay is applied. After the clay is, linseed oil is painted on in several layers. Then powdered tin used to be the final layer before painting. Nowadays aluminium powder is used. After painting, there is yet another layer of linseed oil before the products are dried and hardened in a kiln.

ReplyDeleteArt in a very pretty form.
ReplyDeleteI like the painting style. The shape reminded me of a cow jumping over the moon.
