When I was writing a wishlist for Postcrossing, I added that I love to see traditional kitchens. Whenever I visit any castle, château, or mansion I make a point of visiting the kitchens so I thought there must be postcards of them out there, though not as many as I'd hoped. Later I added any traditional household interior.
As you can see, I'm collecting quite a few now. At least one is an advertising postcard but that's fine by me. They are a good record of social history.
Impressive Postcard collection and a nice use of collage to show them. Great choice of topic for today's 'D' work. I would have thought you would have used Delivery or Dark (Night).
ReplyDeleteI have night views coming up ... under N :)
DeleteThese are some neat postcards. Like the dining room light in the one photo and the kitchen fireplace in the last photo...looks like it is from Austria??
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit like the concept of dollshouses isn't it I suppose? Being able to contain and see an aspect of our life preserved.
ReplyDeleteIt would,be interesting to collect them across the decades of ordinary houses, tracing the changing fashions as well as the social history.
