Derwentwater in the Lake District

Postmark Keswick, Cumbria, and dated 8 September 1978.
Friar's Crag, Derwentwater

The Lake District is England's largest national park and contains England's highest peak at Scafell, and the deepest lake at Wastwater.  It was a popular subject for the Lake Poets and William Wordsworth.

  1. A beautiful place. Love the reflection in the still water, very dreamlike.

  2. Beautiful indeed, but those place names! Are those names even English? ;)

  3. Love your banner; it's very appropriate. Thanks for visiting my blog on Friday. The card from the Lake District is beautiful and serene.

    I just joined postcrossing and am in the process of building a new blog devoted to postcards. I've added your link and hope you don't mind. Come visit me and take a peek at

  5. Yes, it's a beautiful place, one that I'd love to revisit.

    @Chis, don't worry, I won't make you pronounce them. :)

  6. Fantastic reflections in the lake. It looks deserted, the kind of place I love to visit. It looked completely different last time I was there, surrounded by snow and ice :-)

  7. Vintage! I only have one in my collection and that is from Vienna. I don't collect vintage cards. If youlike I can send it to you!

Welcome to my postcard collection! I love hearing what you think of the cards - but spam WILL be deleted.
